Knall Typeface

2024/25

We had the opportunity to talk and discuss the working conditions in the creative industry, specifically in graphic design, and how we communicate about the jobs we're working on. The course, led by Raoul Gottschling in the graphic class at UdK Berlin, brought me to the conclusion that the job is to “MAKE IT POP!”. This led to the creation of Knall, which embodies an expressive personality and witty energy to communicate about this topic.

Knall is a humanist-geometric sans serif typeface inspired by the iconic "POP" font in history: Futura ExtraBold Condensed, which was extensively used by various big brands. It combines the bold characteristics of Futura with free-hand humanist traits, giving the typeface a spark that reflects the essence of the work—a human-heavy job.
